Can translated hyperlink point to different URL?

Postby Randall Smith » Wed Oct 24, 2007 6:48 am

We have a survey at the end of each lesson. I want the English survey to open in the English version of the lesson and I want the Spanish survey to open in the Spanish version of the lesson (e.g. the Spanish link points to a different URL). Is there a way to do this?

Changing hyperlinks in translation versions

Postby SB Support » Fri Oct 26, 2007 12:38 pm

Changing a hyperlink in a translation version is possible, though not from within the translation panel.

This must be done as a post-production change in the language XML.

When you download your lesson, choose to include the translation versions (obviously) but then also choose to expose the language XML.

Once you download the lesson, you will see both the english and spanish versions. In the root level of your spanish version, you will see a tsunamiplayer.xml file which includes all the text and media data within your lesson.

Just seach for your link text, and you will see something along the lines of:

<A HREF="javascript:linkHandler('http://someURL.com,false');" TARGET=""><U>Launch text</U></A>

You can then just modify this XML to point to the different URL.

Ps. This is something we are looking at enabling from within the translation panel, so when that change happens, we will post an update to this thread.
