Transferring to new LMS - Updating FLV URLs

Postby rkhporter » Tue Aug 12, 2014 12:11 pm

Hi all! The company I work for is transferring to a new LMS next month. Up to this point (on the current LMS) we FTP all files to the LMS so we've been able to simply put the FTP file path of the FLV in the Properties panel. However, with our new LMS we are going to need to have all videos (FLVs) embedded in the courses.

Does anyone know of a quicker way of doing this than uploading each video to the media/assets folder (even the batch upload is really slow). ???

Is there a way to FTP into one's SmartBuilder "account"?

Thanks in advance!
Katie

Hi Katie,
Unfortunately the only way to upload these FLVs is to upload them through the SB interface. There is no FTP for it because it needs to be assigned a system ID, ownership, etc. Batch upload is going to be the quickest way.

If your new LMS isn't stopping you, and you have a separate web space somewhere to hold them, you can upload your videos to a separate server, and continue using FLV URLs to bring them into your lessons.

Also, if you use Chrome to upload the videos, I think it actually gives you a percentage in the bottom left corner as it uploads. Then you can at least tell it's working, and how long it's going to take.
