Templates: additional element

Postby rwicker » Fri Sep 26, 2008 11:30 am

Hello:

We made adjustments to the Jeopardy-style quiz example provided by Suddenly Smart, and then saved it as two templates (one for each page). The first template was built from the first page in the "Prove your skills" section of the Fundamentals of MRG (Beta) lesson. Now, when viewing or using those two templates, a page navigation controller appears. For example, in our Templates/Red Hat folder the template named Jeopardy-style quiz page 1 contains a page controller which shouldn't be there.

Are you aware of any reason the page controller is displaying in the template without being present on the page from which the template was built?

Thank you,
Rebecca

So when you create a template, it has some of the masterpage elements in some predefined places (such as page navigator in a certain place, and some of the settings like layering on top, etc). However, when applied, those settings will be overwritten.

The templates use the masterpage settings from the lesson that they are applied to. Even though they show up in the template authoring mode, they will conform to the lesson when the template is applied. So go change your lesson's page controller to make it visible and placed correctly after it is applied. Don't worry about those settings when viewing template authoring mode. Let me know if that answers your question.
